Emma was delighted to congratulate, assistant Head, Mr Lightfoot on another outstanding rating from Ofsted today. Glyn School, in Epsom & Ewell, continues to perform above the national average on results and attendance.
The secondary boys school with a mixed sixth form of 1400 students faces challenges on mental health, SEN support, teacher recruitment and retention. Attendance has been an issue across the UK since the Covid lockdown but Glyn have seen their figures have almost returned to pre-pandemic levels. The school's tie in with NHS Education Mental Health Practitioners who provide support and an early intervention approach to student mental health has been piloted at the school and has proven to be a great benefit to both attendance and behaviour.
"The dedication of the team at Glyn School is inspiring," Emma said. "Learning from the successes of a school like Glyn can help us meet the challenges across the sector for all children, education is the foundation of aspiration and social mobility, we must continue to do all we can to give teachers the tools to achieve this."
